Back in the 1980s and 1990s it was common to see American made fuel injection testers. Since then FI testers made in China and Taiwan have flooded the U.S. market. So what can go wrong?
Well, to be fair, the Taiwan testers are usually better quality than the ones made in China. But neither compare to the American made counterparts. The import versions will have a lesser-quality gage. Reviews on Amazon and eBay indicate that this is the first part of the tool to fail. In some cases, the gage breaks on the first use.
The small and large hoses that engage the shrader valve will fail next. The pin will either fall out or fail to engage the valve. The tool becomes useless.
The U.S. Made FI testers usually cost more, but the quality is worth it. We first started carrying these quality testers back in the 1990s. There were a couple other manufacturers including Star (now Lang) and Snap-on.
Our fuel injection testers feature a quick coupler system making it easier to install the adapters. The gages word great. I have customers that have had the same gage for twenty years. If a part does fail – eventually an o-ring might fail – we can provide replacements at a minimal charge. You are stuck buying the whole kit again.
