Most mechanics have several wrench sets. The standard combination box and open end wrench set is usually the first purchase. Later technicians will purchase double box wrenches, ratcheting wrenches, and of course various deep and shallow socket sets.
Since 1978 we have sold thousands of these sets. In the early 2000’s SK Hand Tools came out with a long double box ratcheting wrench set. The wrenches were reversible, features a spline drive, and had an offset and flush side. This set took off like wildfire. It was very popular. According to our sources, during a struggle to keep the tool company solvent, the right to sell the set was granted to E-Z Red tool company.
E-Z Red granted an exclusive right to sell to Mountain (5-piece metric set). The owners of Mountain Tools sold the set under the E-Z Red label for many years. No one, other than Mountain was able to import or sell the E-Z Red set.
Finally, in 2013 the set came out with the Mountain name on it. Both the Mountain and E-Z Red long pattern double box wrench sets are warrantied through Best Value Company. A broke E-Z Red wrench will now be replaced with the Mountain.
Here are the sizes for the extra-long pattern Universal Spline Drive Flexible Reversible Ratchet Wrenches: 8X10, 12X14, 13X15, 16X18, and 17X19 mm. They feature a spline which grabs better than regular 6-point box end. It is great for rounded nuts, bolts, and fasteners.
